    Heather

I have been suffering from TMJ for 6 years now.  I have a similar story to Dr. D's.  My dentist at the time noticed my jaw popping on the right side and told me I had TMJ.  I had no other symptoms but an occasional headache or toothache.  For 2 years my doctor tried talking me into having an equilibration, where he would grind down my back teeth to get rid of the popping joint, he said if I didnt let him grind my teeth down, I would get full blown TMJ someday.  I kept telling him no , beacuse I was feeling fine and had no other problems.  Well to make a long story short I finally let him file down the back teeth.  Big mistake, I left his office and then started this downward spiral to hell.  I almost past out , had a hugh migraine and was very dizzy after the procedure.  For the past 6 yrs now I have been gradually getting the symptoms of full blown TMJ.  This was the very reason my doctor wanted to do the procedure, so I would not get TMJ.  Now I wished I would have never let him talk me into the equilibration.  I was perfectly fine before it, all I had was a clicking joint.  I blame him for whats happened to me.  I am being very carefull as to what to do now.  Everything is so discouraging, you do want to do a procedure that will make it worst.  I hope I can find someone to fix me, Im desperate right now.
